Target Markets
The Energy Authority currently markets and sells to the
Commercial and Industrial markets in New England, New York,
Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The Energy Authority
has numerous suppliers including Dominion Energy, Select
Energy, UGI/GASMARK, NRG-New England, Constellation-NewEnergy,
Suez Energy (Tractelbel), and Direct Energy. All natural
gas, electricity, and oil, customer contracts are customized
based upon specific customer end uses and we present
numerous pricing options. The Energy Authority has a
reputation of saving customers money on natural gas,
electricity, and oil purchases.
The Energy Authority retail energy products include;
Natural Gas Products
- Fixed price contract for one, two, and three year
terms. The advantage of a fixed price is that the price
is locked into for the term of the contract and does not
change.
- New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), or Market
Based contract for one, two, and three year terms. The
NYMEX or market based contract is based upon the monthly
NYMEX plus an all in basis which includes the cost of
transporting natural gas through the interstate pipeline
system to the local utility city gate. From the city
gate the local natural gas utility delivers the natural
gas to your meter. A NYMEX, or market-based contract,
moves with the monthly market and can either go up or
down. The monthly NYMEX closing price is added to the
contracted basis price to produce the natural gas rate
for the month. At any time during the term of the
contract, the customer has the option to lock into a
fixed price contract. A NYMEX based contract is
advantageous when market pricing is high, and expected
to go down in the future.
- Interruptible Transportation Service contracts with
specific contracted natural gas volumes. This can be
combined with oil for a BTU contract that is a blend of
both natural gas and oil. Note that Interruptible
Transportation Services customers must have the ability
to switch to an alternative fuel.
Electricity Products
- Fixed Price Contract (cents/kwh) for one and two
year terms. Our fixed price electric product is
competitively priced and provides a stable, predictable
price, backed by financially strong suppliers for the
term of the customer contract.
- Market Indexed Contract (cents/kwh) for one and two
year terms. Our indexed priced product accurately
reflects the wholesale market conditions, providing the
customer with an accurate cost correlation to the true
wholesale electric market. The index itself is fixed for
the term of the contract providing a degree of certainty
to the product. This product is attractive to customers
who are comfortable with the concept that price varies
from month-to-month with the wholesale market. An Energy
Authority customer can switch to a fixed price supply
contract should the market move to a price that the
customer is comfortable with.
- Green Products and Renewable Energy products are
available to all Energy Authority customers. A variety
of environmentally compatible supplies are available for
customer choice.
The Energy Authority Pass Savings back to the customer
As an example, for all New York customer contracts, we pass
on 100% of all Utility customer service back-out credits,
all sales tax savings, and gross receipts tax savings. These
savings typically average 6% to 10% of your total energy
bill. Other suppliers share these savings rather than pass
them back 100% to the customer.
Oil Supply Options
The Energy Authority supplies all grades of oil direct from
the terminal. The Energy Authority supplies number two (#2),
number four (#4), and number six (#6) oil, in New England
and New York. The Energy Authority offers Fixed Priced,
Indexed, and BTU (natural gas and oil) contracts. BTU based
programs provide the customer with the lowest cost energy
product (natural gas and oil) and cost savings are passed
directly back to the customer. For competitive price,
superior customer service, and on-time delivery, The Energy
Authority is your source for all your oil requirements.
