• MassBay Wins Regional Marketing and Public Relations Awards

    October 16, 2017
WELLESLEY HILLS, MA (October 16, 2017) – MassBay Community College was recently recognized by regional members of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) for its outstanding work in marketing and communications to promote and advance the college.

MassBay received three Medallions of Excellence: Gold for Logo Design, Silver for Communications Success Story, and Bronze for Advertising-Outdoor Media Campaign. The winners were selected from hundreds of entries submitted in 38 categories and announced at NCMPR's District 1 Conference in Philadelphia, PA last week. All work was produced in-house by the College's Office of Marketing and Communications.

"The Marketing and Communications team at MassBay is extremely honored to accept these awards on behalf of MassBay," said Lee Koh, the College's Director of Marketing and Institutional Communications. "We are deeply committed to MassBay's mission and we are always searching for bold, innovative ways to tell our story. It's a special honor to be recognized by our colleagues at NCMPR, whose work we greatly respect, for the work we love doing each day."

MassBay won a Gold Medallion for its revamped All Vehicle Show logo, which was updated to incorporate the College's official colors, fonts, and overall style to match the College's institutional brand. The logo is currently used to promote the popular annual event at the College's Automotive Technology Center in Ashland.

For its earned media coverage of MassBay's student Commencement speaker Lindsey Gaetani, a single mother who battled homelessness and adversity to earn her nursing degree, MassBay was awarded the Silver Medallion. Her story was featured in regional and national news outlets, including CBS Boston, NBC Boston, the Metrowest Daily News, as well as USA Today.

Finally, the College took home the Bronze in the Advertising-Outdoor Media category for its “Think MassBay” campaign, currently displayed on MBTA bus racks, subway trains, and commuter rail station posters, as well as the MWRTA bus wraparounds, bus interior racks, and station posters. The ads portray images of MassBay students in the classroom or celebrating at Commencement, with the accompanying phrase: "Think Opportunity, Think Affordability, Think Excellence, Think MassBay."

Medallions are awarded at the District conferences and honor outstanding achievement in communications for public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges, while providing professional development opportunities and recognizing professional excellence.
