MetroWest Chamber Educational Foundation awarded $14,000 in Scholarship money to local students

On Tuesday, May 23rd the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce awarded $14,000 in scholarship money to 14 graduating seniors from the MetroWest region. A ceremony, followed by a reception was hosted by Staples, Inc., 500 Staples Drive in Framingham beginning at 4pm.
The MetroWest Chamber Educational Foundation Scholarships were established to assist public or private high school seniors who reside in the MetroWest area and wish to continue their education beyond high school.
The students received a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to help achieve their educational goals. Partially funded by the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament, the Taste of MetroWest, and the Staples Foundation, six students received monies to pursue further education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The Educational Foundation awarded five Emma, Arcadius and Robert Lemieux Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Two additional $1,000 scholarships were awarded for the third consecutive year. The Walter Kelleher Memorial Scholarship was received by a student with a concentration in early childhood education and the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism Scholarship was established to assist a student with an autism or autism spectrum disorder diagnosis pursue higher education.
The students, along with their families and guidance counselors, were celebrated for their impressive scholastic achievements and community engagement by the MetroWest Chamber’s Board of Directors, staff and members.
