    Dr. Beverly “Bev” Edgehill of TJX is Keynote Speaker at 26th Annual MetroWest Community Prayer Breakfast and John P. Garrahan Leadership in Diversity Awards
      
    The Alliance for MetroWest Unity is delighted to announce that TJX executive Dr. Beverly “Bev” Edgehill will be keynote speaker at the 26th Annual MetroWest Community Prayer Breakfast and John P. Garrahan Leadership in Diversity Awards on April 27, 2018 at the Sheraton Framingham at 7:15am – 9:00 am.

    The Alliance presents the Leadership in Diversity Awards annually to students from public and private high schools located in MetroWest whose work in leading others in awareness and appreciation of diversity distinguishes them at their schools. These themes in action can be found in the work of the 2018 recipients of the annual Leadership in Diversity Awards, who include:

    Daniel Prefontaine (of Southborough), Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School
    Chelsea Zhang (of Sherborn), Dover-Sherborn High School
    Sarah Da Silva, Framingham High School
    Madeline Cerulli, Holliston High School
    Ruqayah Al-Ashabi, Hopkinton High School
    Juan Carlos Alfaro Ramos (of Framingham), Keefe Regional Technical School
    Lacey Clericuzio (of Clinton, MA), The Learning Center for the Deaf
    Stephanie Monteiro (of Framingham), Marian High School
    Caroline DeHaven, Natick High School
    Kareem A. Chambers II (of Brooklyn, NY), St. Mark’s School
    Nyah Malone (of St. Louis, MO),Walnut Hill School for the Arts
    Corinne Sciarappa, Westborough High School
     
    The student speakers representing the awardees will be Madeline Cerulli and Corinne Sciarappa. Edgehill is Vice President and global head of the Organizational Development Center of Expertise for The TJX Companies.
     
    Dr. Edgehill was previously president and Chief Executive Officer for The Partnership, a nonprofit working with organizations in all sectors to build racially and ethnically diverse leadership pipelines, offering leadership development programs for multicultural talent, as well as customized consulting services to improve diversity performance in a global marketplace. Dr. Edgehill’s work at The Partnership is featured in a Harvard Business School case study.
     
    She has served a regional selection panelist for the White House Fellows program under both the Bush and Obama administrations.  
     
    The event also includes awarding the annual Nancy King Award, named for the late Executive Director and founder of MetroWest Legal Services. The 2018 Nancy King Award will go to Diego Low of the MetroWest Worker Center.
     
    The annual breakfast and award program began in April of 1993 as a collaborative effort of local leaders, interfaith clergy, MetroWest Legal Services, MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, Framingham State University, MetroWest Medical Center, MetroWest Bar Association, and others. In 2004, the award was renamed in honor of one of the group’s founders and longtime steering committee member, late Framingham attorney and community leader John P. Garrahan.  
     
    Volunteers from the Alliance met with the 2018 class of nominees and their parents at Framingham State University in March. At that time, each student spoke to the group about his or her role in promoting diversity and inclusion leadership.
     
    Tickets for this event are available by sending a check for $25 for individuals, and $250 per table, and include a buffet breakfast to the Alliance for MetroWest Unity, c/o MetroWest Legal Services, 63 Fountain St # 304, Framingham, MA 01702, or at www.metrowestunity.org.  Donations and sponsorships are also welcome. The event will be from 7:15 to 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Sheraton Framingham. A limited number of seats will be available at the door.
