The MetroWest Women's Alliance

The United Way of Tri-County and Metrowest Chamber of Commerce collaborated to create a unique initiative to benefit all women and girls in the MetroWest community. As a result of this collaboration, the MetroWest Women’s Alliance was launched in January of 2011.

The mission of the Alliance is to bring women and girls of various backgrounds together to foster leadership and philanthropic efforts by engaging, educating and providing the resources for empowerment.

In its first year, the group has made a quantifiable impact on the region by awarding “mini-grants” to non-profit organizations that promote the well-being and empowerment of women and girls.

The MetroWest Women’s Alliance welcomes event participation, suggestions, donations sponsorships, and inquiries regarding mentoring and volunteer opportunities from women and girls of all ages. For additional information regarding how you can become involved or about upcoming events, please contact Leanne Cordischi at 508-370-4857 or leanne.cordischi@uwotc.org

Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers Collage

The Ruby Slippers Fundraiser and Networking Gala took place on September 20th at the Gardens at Elm Bank.  The event was a celebration of the Alliance's inaugural year of women helping women and girls grow, thrive and succeed.

“Ruby Slippers was chosen as the event name because the themes from the Wizard of OZ -- not giving up on one’s dreams, and finding what you’re searching for in your own backyard -- mirror the goals of the organization. “

Attendees met and made connections with prominent women from around the region,  heard from inspirational speaker Mina Samuels, author of “Run Like a Girl”, and learned about ways they could make a difference in the lives of women and girls in need in their own backyard.
