Name: Electric Grid 2.0: getting reliable, resilient and sustainable
    Date: March 9, 2017
    Time: 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM EST
    Event Description:

The U.S. electric grid is very large, “fragmented” in ownership and management, continuously growing, very complex, and vulnerable to failure due to natural causes, human error, equipment failure, or malevolent action. Failures can become long lasting and cascade; impacting communications, financial transactions, general commerce, needs for shelter, safety, and national security.

The Smart Grid concept resulted from recognition of the issues outlined above. The term Smart Grid generally refers to a class of technology people are using to bring utility electricity delivery systems into the 21st century, using computer-based remote control and automation.

The technical program will open with a brief overview of the Smart Grid, will then explore and discuss opportunities for entrepreneurial innovation within Smart Grid management as well as at grid interfaces with end usage/users of electricity and with distributed energy resources (electricity generation, storage, etc.), and will conclude with an audience-interactive panel session.

    Panel:

    Sean Becker, President, Sparkplug Power

Melissa Chan, Senior Consultant, Modern Grid Partners

Ken Horne, Director in Navigant’s Global Energy Practice

Bill Jones, Director of the Smart Energy Solutions Program, National Grid
