Event Description:Free Money: Settlements under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act
This presentation will teach people how to turn annoyance into cash through the use of Federal and State Statutes with little time involvement. Who doesn't want free money? As consumer protection attorneys, CW Law Group use Federal and State Statutes to catch violations that effect virtually everyone that has a land line, cell phone, credit card, or debit card. It is easy and fun, and the majority of people including attorneys are not even aware that such laws exist.
If you are receiving unsolicited auto-dialed or pre-recorded calls or text messages to your residential land line or cell phone and you have not provided that caller with signed written authorization to call you with an auto-dialer or pre-recorded call or text message you could be entitled to $ 500.00 - $ 1,500.00 per call or text whether you answer the phone or not. Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (47 U.S.C. § 227) you could be entitled to a sum of money from these auto-dialer companies.
About the presenter: Jeremy CohenShortly after obtaining his bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 1997, Jeremy relocated from Natick, MA to South Florida. While employed by Fluor Corporation (one of the world's largest, publicly owned multinational engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services companies) Jeremy made the decision to attend law school.
In 2002, Jeremy graduated with honors from the Nova Southeastern University Law Center. Since graduating, Jeremy has often returned to Nova Southeastern as a Guest Speaker, Lecturer and Judge for Moot Court competitions.
After practicing as an attorney behind some inspiring mentors for several years, Jeremy co-founded Cohen & Owens, PA, based in Hollywood, Florida in 2005. Cohen & Owens, PA practiced in the areas of real estate litigation and transactions, civil and commercial litigation, commercial and residential landlord-tenant, estate planning and consumer protection.
