    Event Description:

CONVERSATIONS ON ANTI-RACISM/WHEN TO SPEAK UP

“What if I say the wrong thing?”
“I’m worried that I’m going to offend someone.”
“Maybe it's better if I don't say anything at all.”

Such questions and statements are common when engaging in discussions around diversity, equity and inclusion. Participants in this conversation will be given prompts to examine where they are in their personal development, listen to different perspectives and better understand concepts such as unconscious bias, how equality and equity differ, and the implications of intent versus impact. In addition, participants will be given the opportunity to discuss bystander intervention, establishing confidence in speaking up, and practicing a few "What do you do if"… situations.

*This conversation will be facilitated by Lisa MacDonald, Director of Equity Compliance at MassBay Community College & founder of Elleminc Training and Development
