Ashland Business Association Kicks off Its Fall Programming with ‘Focus on Community,’ September 4

ASHLAND, MA¾August 23, 2018¾ The Ashland Business Association (ABA) will hold its monthly program with a focus on community on Tuesday, September 4, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Ashland Library, Community Room. Business owners will learn how community initiatives affect them. The event is free and open to the public. Register at www.ashlandbusinessassociation.com/events.

    Program Speakers
Town Manager Michael Herbert will speak on the new storefront improvement program; DPW Director Doug Small and Stormwater Committee Chair Rob St. Germain will speak about new regulations for storm water management; and Director of Prevention Outreach Kristin French of Decisions at Every Turn (DAET), a community coalition that works to enhance the health and wellbeing of Ashland youth, will present training opportunities for business owners.

“The business sector is an important community partner,” French said, “because we share the vision of ensuring that Ashland is a safe and healthy place for families and children. Businesses can play an important role in supporting our strategies—communication, public education, media campaigns, policy, and enforcement—to address substance use. As a community resource for prevention, DAET can provide business leaders—who may also be parents, grandparents, youth role-models—educational information and resources to help support the young people in their lives in making good choices and healthy decisions.”
