    MEDIA ADVISORY: MassBay to Hold 2018 Information Security Summit

    WELLESLEY HILLS, MA (May 4, 2018) – MassBay Community College and Towerwall will hold its 6th annual Information Security Summit on Thursday, May 24th 7:30AM – 1:30PM at the MassBay Wellesley Hills campus. Attendees will learn from industry experts as they share their experience and knowledge regarding guiding principles of information security, user awareness, training/social engineering, cloud and security, threats and ransomware, risk management, and compliance, enabling the summit participants to connect through the leaders driving innovation in the security sector.

     

    This year’s keynote address will be given by Bob Bragdon, Senior Vice President and Publisher of CSO, the leading information resource for security, risk and privacy executives. Bragdon leads all operations for the full CSO product line, including CSOonline.com, the CSO portfolio of national and regional events and the Security Smart Newsletter. During his keynote, he will be discussing “Building a secure business: from culture to cloud”.

     

    As businesses struggle to cope with the myriad cyber threats they face on a daily basis, the risk environment gets more and more complicated. While not everyone has to worry about a foreign intelligence service trying to hack them, they do need to worry about meeting compliance mandates as well as partner requirements that establish baseline security standards with must be achieved. Key to success are the concepts of collaboration, resiliency, and hygiene. The keynote will examine how businesses, of all sizes and resource levels, can face down the threats and challenges posed by cyber risk.

    The Information Security Summit was established in 2013 to assist professionals advance their programs and knowledge base on the latest network security and technology issues. A portion of the funds raised at the Summit is donated to the MassBay Foundation for student scholarships. To date, the Information Security Summit and its attendees and sponsors have raised a total of $38,000 that has gone to MassBay students studying CyberSecurity in the form of Information Security Summit scholarships.
