Framingham Earth Day Festival Celebrates
Eco-friendly Activities for the Whole Family!
Seventh Annual Event Comes To Center Common on April 29th
FRAMINGHAM -- With more than 80 displays, attractions and vendors, the Framingham Earth Day Festival is poised to deliver the green-living message to hundreds of environmentally attuned families this month.
The festival kicks off activities at 11am on the Framingham Centre Common, Edgell Road, Saturday, April 29 and continues until 3pm. In the event of stormy weather with heavy rains, the Festival will be moved to Framingham High School. If in doubt, check the Earth Day Website the day of the event.
With food, music, recycling, composting, kids’ activities, yoga classes, artisans, eco-friendly products and businesses, the seventh annual festival promises to be as excellent as previous years. “We want the Festival to be a chance to join together as a community, support local businesses, learn about how we can be a more sustainable community, AND have fun!,” said Framingham Earth Day Festival President Donna Kramer Merritt.
The Festival will be an opportunity for area residents to RECYCLE a number of different items. For full recycling details check out our website: http://www.framinghamearthday.org/recycling-info/
- Things that can be brought to the Festival for recycling Include:
- Old toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, caps and boxes (any brand)
- Bikes, bike parts, bike accessories and cycling clothing
- Eye glasses, Pennies and Used Winter Coats
- Packing Peanuts
- Recycling opportunities close to the Festival that day include:
- Electronics and Foam Recycling at Plymouth Church (87 Edgell Rd)
- Textile Recycling collection at First Baptist Church (enter at 48 Pleasant Street) from 9am to 1pm.
As always the festival will be a Zero Waste event with all unconsumed food products composted or recycled. Framingham DPW will be running the recycling and composting efforts. They are providing 3 recycling stations where we will be separating out recyclable items like glass, cans and plastic cutlery, and compostable items like food waste and paper products.
