    2017 ATHENA Leadership Award® Call For Nominations
    Framingham, MA Nominations are now being accepted for the 2017 ATHENA Leadership Award®.    The Athena Award, through a partnership between the UWTC and the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, will be awarded to a prominent leader in the MetroWest region for contributing to the advancement of the status of women in the community and the workplace, achievement of professional excellence, meaningful contribution to community service, and active assistance to women in their attainment of professional and leadership skills. “It gives us great pleasure to be partnering with the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce to honor these exceptional leaders and community advocates who have worked hard to advance the status of women in the MetroWest community,” said Paul Mina, President & CEO of United Way of Tri-County.
     
    According to MetroWest Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Paul Joseph, “Recently we have witnessed an important and unprecedented international movement toward promoting, empowering, protecting, and compensating women. Presenting the annual Athena Award to an accomplished MetroWest leader through this partnership with the United Way of Tri-County symbolizes the importance of coming together as individuals and organizations in support of equity and opportunities for women in our community.”
     
    Nominations must be received by Wednesday, March 8, 2017.  The nomination form, which includes award criteria, is available on UWTC’s  website (www.uwotc.org/athena) and on the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce website at http://www.metrowest.org/events/details/metrowest-women-s-leadership-conference-6924.  To enhance the candidate's potential, it is extremely important that nominators complete the form in its entirety.  Nominees will be reviewed by a 7-member committee comprised of three past local Athena Award winners, and two representatives from each sponsoring organization.
     
    The Athena Award recipient will be announced on Friday, May 5th at a luncheon hosted at the Verve-Crowne Plaza in Natick, MA. For attendees of the MetroWest Women’s Leadership Conference, beginning earlier that same day, the Athena Award luncheon and keynote is included with full conference admission.
